CC Transfer Student Scholarships

Hello I’m currently on a scholarship at a California community college, and I have just learned about merit scholarships for universities. This is my first time using this site so stay with me. If anyone can refer me to a page or source that tells me where transfer students can still receive these types of scholarships, it would be greatly appreciated. I do have the Cal Grant ready to transfer, so even 50% scholarships would be appreciated. Just in case my high school information is required, very basic info includes 4.03 GPA and CSF lifetime member. And if you know any other options or opportunities that you believe could be beneficial to me it would appreciated as well.

Even simple links will be appreciated so i learn how to maneuver the site

You need to go and talk to the transfer advisor at your community college. Usually they are the go to place to get info about transferring…and where aid might be available to you.

If you have the Cal Grant…do you have a CSU that is within commuting distance of your home?

Definitely speak with the transfer advisor at your school also be aware that many of the transfer scholarships for CC college students are contingent on your completing your associates at your community college

@thumper1 Yes, the closest school would be Fresno State, but I know how many people on this site feel about this place. Granted there are lazy people I know who go there, but I have friends from the top of my class attending Smitt Camp, so I guess it depends on my major. I am pursuing teaching in mathematics and a minor in economics if it helps at all. CSU’s do have a good reputation for their teaching program, I just need to visit more of them. Sadly most of their scholarships are restricted to incoming students.

@sybbie719 YES thank you that completely crossed my mind. I just got tired of being told the same generic answers by counselors.

You can check various college’s sites and look at their transfer scholarships. Joining Phi Theta Kappa (a cc honor society) is also good for scholarships- at some places a significant amount, at others not that much.

@bjs_7 yes thank you I was disappointed to find that my school does not have Phi Theta Kappa, but rather Alpha Gamma Sigma, another honor society which I’m in. I do plan to take advantage of it because it does have it’s benefits but isn’t as big as Phi Theta Kappa
