Going to WUSTL has been my dream since I was 13, and I’m now submitting the final pieces of my transfer application. I know that it’s nearly impossible, but I feel like I have a lot to contribute. That was a super emotionally charged sentence; let’s mellow it out with some hard numbers.
Stats:
High School GPA: 3.4 UW, two AP classes
College GPA: 3.9, but will graduate with a 4.0 (almost finished with my associate’s!)

- 25 in Science
- 24 in Math
PSAT (sophomore): - 69 in Reading and Writing
- 50 in Math
Awards:
National Merit Semifinalist
All-Illinois Academic Team (2014)
College Activities Board Journalism Scholarship (from my CC)
Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Chapter Officer Award
1st Place in an Annual Public Speaking Competition (also from my CC)
Extracurriculars/Jobs:

Senior Reporter for my college’s newspaper (2 years)
Volunteer/Tour Guide for a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1 year)
Volunteer for an Audubon Society (sporadically, 1 year)
Administrative Assistant Internship for a media company (1 semester)
Chief Editor for HS Newspaper (1 year)
Chief Editor for HS Yearbook (1 year)
Varsity Volleyball in HS (1 year)
German Club (3 years)
Other application stuff:
- An astounding review by an instructor/ Wash U alum whom I’ve gotten very close to and learned a lot from
- A very specific recommendation letter by a former instructor whose focus is very similar to my own and who has authored a textbook that may or may not be used by pretty much every college biology department
- An essay that was given great reviews by the many, many people (counselors, grad students, professors, etc) whom I asked to read it
I would appreciate any feedback. As there’s really nothing I can do, this is just to calm my nerves. Thanks!
