CC users, how do you present yourselves in classes?

Depends on the class. In Physics I stay in the back of the room, namely because the rest of the class is really distracting and loud. :\ During History, Math, French, and English, I’m more outspoken. However, I try to talk with the teachers when I can outside of class–they’re pretty interesting folks, and recommendations are always nice.

I act like myself.

I get yelled at in Pre-Cal almost everyday, but I have the highest average in the class. Go figure…

I usually try to answer and ask questions, but not to the point of being obnixious. I also try to relate to the teacher (act interested in things they are, etc) because it usually sets you off on the right foot in the class. Or so I think :P

For me, it depends on the teacher (not the class). If I like the teacher, then I tend to participate more. I find this extremely weird, but I like to impress my teachers. If I don’t like the teacher, I don’t give a ***** about participating. All I care about is the A. But if I do like the teacher, I try my best to participate as much as I can.

If you’re talking about disruptiveness, than that I am not. Since childhood I’d be the “angel” of the class.

My school is nationally ranked and extremely competitive, so really everyone is considered an overachiever. But I’m considered and overachiever at my school, which I guess… makes me a super overachiever. Lol.

In AP Physics I say nothing but maybe a question or two when I don’t get it. I also don’t say anything because most of my class is literally filled with nerds who tell bad jokes that the teacher and the rest of the class has to laugh at.

In other classes, I normally talk to the people around me. Sometimes in the class with my friends, I get in trouble for talking. In class with no friends, I just stay quiet and stare at the clock.

I dont have classes with my friends but i am cool with the kids in my classes since most of them i had class with them before or know them through clubs so they know how i am in class so in half of my classes (ap art history, apush, and english, and sometimes ap bio) im rather outspoken when im not tired or freaking out for the next test. Sometimes tend to do more insane things in those classes since the teachers are chill like running into class late and falling in front of everyone or just do more random things in general.

While in other classes (pre-calc, ap stat,ap bio, and french) im mad quiet since the teacher is strict or there really isnt time to mess around since there is soo much to do or i just mad tired since they are my earliest and latest classes.

I’m grateful that this year I have no need to participate in class discussions. Obviously, participation is preferred, but have not been openly required by any of my teachers. That said, I am usually quiet in my classes, unless I am near friends. I tend not to answer questions, partly because I can’t care to raise my hand and mostly because some loud, overachieving kids will try to answer the question before my teacher even finishes asking the question. (This usually occurs in every math class I’ve ever been in. Seriously, it’s to the point where they verbally take us through their process. “Now after we do this, what’s the ans–” “Well, if you take x and y and put it over the absolute value of [insert ten steps] and so you would get [insert whatever answer].”)

So yeah, I try to let my tests prove my proficiency on a topic.

English, Japanese: I am an lazy, unorganized idiot.
Math, Econ: I am mostly productive until I’m done with classwork/homework for the day. Then I talk with friends.
Physics: I am quiet when I need to be and am doing random, usually non-physics stuff when I can.

i’m mildly disliked by about half my teachers… i am a pretty vibrant soul (read: boarderline adhd) and some teachers don’t seem to like that.

1st period, i sit with a group of semi-friends i know, talk a little but not overly loud

2nd period, quieter than new york after a zombie apocalypse

3rd period, talk the most in here, mostly cause this girl i like sits next to me and my best friends on my other side too

4th period, super loud and active, its gym, didnt get it freshman year smh

5th period, a little bit of all the above except 4th period

1st block: Eat my breakfast, take notes if I’m in the mood, talk a bit, and go to sleep if I’m really tired.
2nd block: Take notes, quiet conversations with the people around me. It’s a math class, so that’s pretty much it.
3rd block: It’s yearbook, we can basically do whatever we want, walk around the school, whatever.
4th block: Mess around, don’t really do much.

I talk…to my friends…a lot haha. Although in some classes I’m with people I am not great friends with, so then I’ll text or sleep (yeah I’m that guy. Dont pay attention, don’t study, get pretty good grades, shocks (and annoys) a lot of people hahahahah)

It all depends on the class and go is in it. In some classes I hardly talk and in others I talk too much.

If I don’t get something I usually raise my hand.

AP Chem: I sit in the back and stare at the board, occasionally talkig to the only other senior in the class (rest of the class is juniors, i took ap physics last year, which is for seniors).
AP Economics: I sit in the back and talk ot 2 people next to me and occasionally make wisecracks/witty remarks to the teacher.
Jazz band: I sometimes play wrong notes on purpose because it sounds hilarious.
AP Lit: I talk about sports a lot to my 2 friends sitting next to me and frequently make witty remarks to the teacher.
AP Calc: Sit in the back, don’t take any notes, i only do the examples he gives us.

Coming from a regular public school in the suburbs, I’m seen as being the ambitious asian girl who wants to do more than go to the state school. But at the same time, I’m a state athlete and a key part of student government, so I guess people don’t perceive me as only just a nerd. In class I’d say I’m pretty outgoing and social. If my teacher asks a question, I try to give other people a chance to answer it before doing so myself. I do my work and perform well on tests but I’ve never really felt the need to have to publicly show off my intelligence in class…

I used to not participate at all, lol. Then in 7th grade I got a C on a progress report because our grade was based entirely on participation. I mean, I got a hundred on the first test but have never looked at participation the same way. Ever. I participate like a beast now. I think all my teachers like/love me. I get good grades on test. I tend to kind of overachieve and kind of not. My friends tend to think I am an overchiever but I highly disagree, lol. It’s all very complicated.

Oopies, I must have hit the submit button too many times ;p

I talk. A lot. In AP chemistry, I ask questions about interesting extensions to whatever we are learning about (IE if sp3d2 hybridization forms octahedral molecules, would hybridization down into the f-shell be possible? If not, what underlying physics makes it impossible?) while I correct my AP literature teacher in class when she (incorrectly) BSs some historical point related to a book we happen to be reading, since I dislike her. In physics, I already know all the material and my teacher likes me, so I just talk to my friends.

First hour is French and we’re not really supposed to talk but as long as we speak French she’s usually OK with it.

Second period is physics, I enjoy it so I buckle down but I always volunteer to do board problems/demos/whatever.

Third is my English class, it’s pretty tough so I usually work throughout but I have some friends in there and we talk a lot if it’s a lighter day.

Fourth is a free period/my online classes and a bunch of my friends are in the same online classes. Usually we reddit/stumbleupon/talk all period and work for the class once or twice a week.

Fifth is calc, usually about half lecture/half homework time. I do homework during lecture and then talk.

Sixth is stats, love it. Pay attention, participate a lot. It’s pretty much all seniors except me and one other kid but I don’t really know him. Talk to senior friends during homework time and do all the homework the night before the test.
