ccas vs bschool

whats more competitive to get into

the ccas or the business school?

and if i get accepted to ccas ... can i always transfer easily to the business school?

=/

Easy is never a word in the GW vocabulary. However, you must meet some requirements of coursework while in CCAS to tx to the Business School.
Having said that, I personally think it would be easier for you to apply directly to the BS since many of the courses you want to take in the subject will be denied since you are not in the major to start with.
It may take time and money from you

…

I am a current student there, and as much as people can party hard, certainly study hard!
Last night, at 1230 at night, we were in a 40 minute line at Starbucks to keep us awake to finish our midterm, and midterm papers. I guarantee you it is a really hard school, unless you want to settle for a D. I need at least a 3.0 to keep my scholarship, so I reserve partying to the weekends, and not during the week, in addition, I intern and have a PT job. People here are proud of the majority of their professors, and the professors have high expectations on us as well.

…

Back to the original question. I was advised by GW that no one school is “easier” then another. If you are not qualified for the bschool you will not qualify for ccas either. If you enter into ccas a certain grade point average is required to transfer from one school to another.

okay thnx MsBC for finally answering my question :)

I am thinking about majoring in accounting … which is only available in the business school … but if it is more competitive to get into then I wanted to apply to ccas and then maybe transfer into the business school …cuz i know that in some schools it is pretty “easy” to transfer into another school once your in the college.

but thank you!

sheena87- FYI- This is a direct quote from an admissions counselor on a GW blog: In this case someone was inquiring about admission into the IA program.

Also, if you are not admitted into the Elliott School of International Affairs, then you are not admitted into GW. You would not be deferred into the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences.

It is not any more difficult to be admitted into one school at GW than the other. You should apply to the school that best interests you.

Sorry for the confusion sheena87 the quote begins with “Also if you are not admitted… and Ends with apply to the school you are most interested in” Did not want it to appear as if the info was coming from me. Good luck!

Bschool is easier to get into (b/c less people apply to it) but really hard academically. I know someone who got into the bschool with B’s and an average resume
(Current student)

I disagree with Spw1108, you cannot determine that the b school is easier because of one student or b/c it is smaller. The school reps will also dispute this. Check out the stats of the students in bschool compared with ccas and I believe you will also find that they are fairly similar across both schools.

I have heard that the business school is easier once in then The CCAS although there are lots of required courses in the b school

Is the business school really difficult once admitted. I am thinking of transferring from CCAS to the B School. ANy advice or feedback???
