CCC Academic Renewal

I am applying for UC's and right now my overall GPA is about 3.0, My UC GPA 3.4X and Major GPA 4.0, Well I got a D in one of my low ranking math classes at a CCC several years back, went to a different CCC and taken higher math courses and gotten A's in the upper division math courses. I talked to a counselor and they said I would be able to get academic renewal for the class, the only thing is whether or not I get AR for that class does not affect my UC GPA but will raise my overall GPA at that CCC to about 3.4, so wondering if I should even go through the process.
Also if I wanted to do Grad School later on would that D on my CCC haunt me?

UCs don’t care about your grades for non-UC transferable classes. Grads schools will look at everything. You may want save that AR for later just in case something happens down the road. You can always do it later. Because at my CCC, you can only AR once, and never again for any reason.

Might as well do it. My CC allowed us to do it for 2 semesters (though mine was different because it contained UC Transferable courses). For us it was literally a paper where you state your grades for that term and then turn it into Admissions & Records.

AR looks better than a ‘D’ especially if you have a valid explanation for it. The process is very easy. At my CC i just had to fill out a small form, have it signed off by my counselor, reviewed by the committee and it was granted. Took about a week and a half.
