CCC EOPS students getting application fee waived

Hello everyone. I know that if you're a ccc eops student you can get your uc application fee waived. How does thar work? Do I have to go meet an eops counselor? Do they write us a letter so that we can send it to UCs? Is it easy to get fees waived? Thank you for reading! :) I'd appreciate your response.

Although there are some discrepancies the general guidelines for becoming an eops student is having at least 12 units from the college you are attending but no more than 50 units total. You have to sign up with eops and be accepted depending on the funds available and may or may not have to take typically a 1 unit class. Depending on the college, the general accounting practice I’m familiar with is you pay the application fee first for transaction/record keeping purposes and then are reimbursed. I’ve never heard of a letter being written or sent for application fee waivers.

@kmazza: umm I was eops student since last year haha I was asking how I can get my apps fee waived. So I actually have to pay them first?

Well you have to be a current EOPS student according to AB 1114 and the proper California Education Code sections to qualify. If you are then you qualify for up to 4 UC application fee waivers and sorry its a 70 semester unit max cap not 50. I believe the form can be downloading online but all you have to do is request it from EOPS. There is a special provision for EOPS students that you check the proper box indicating you are a current EOPS student whether on a physical application or online. That way you don’t have to pay first as I did prior to being waived since I’ve never been an EOPS student. It’s pretty painless and ideally should only take a few minutes, hours or days for the form to be rubber stamped.

I did not have to pay the application fee upfront when I applied summer 2009 for winter 2010 admission. It was automatically waived for me and I was not an EOPS student nor did I apply to be one at any point after. Note that I am considered an independent student for financial aid purposes, though.

The application had a section that asked me for my income (I believe it was a specific line either from my FAFSA application or my 1040A) specifically to see if I qualified for the fee waiver. I put in the amount and viola! Fee waiver applied. Your mileage may vary particularly if that part of the application has been altered. This was just my experience.

I am a current EOPS student @ cal and I was just accepted into it by filling out the UC application.
