CCC Honors Programs!

I was just wondering what the honors programs at other California Community Colleges are like.

At my JC (College of the Canyons), you have to do a project for the class which changes the class from a standard class to an honors. Since the class is not designed for honors students, the difficulty to acquire the honors denotation varies considerably. I've had anything from ten plus page research papers to a simple four pager.

I'm also wondering if their is anyone out there who has racked up an astounding number of honors units (such as in the 45-70 semester unit range)? If so, what school did you end up at or where are planning on going to?

yeah, mine is somewhat similar. you have a certain exact list of classes and teachers to take, as listed by 'core' and 'cohort' classes; cohort classes requiring three students or more to be in, and then the first three quarters of your duration in the program, you have to enroll in two of those classes every single time. after completion of six honors quarter courses, the entire transcript somehow recieves the designation of being completed in an honors curriculum. but then again, factoring in how after the first three quarters you have to enroll in one honors course each following quarter, that adds up to a max of 45 units, half of your total units. so it kind of makes sense. but then again, it's tedious as hell. i hope it's worth it. by the way, i'll be attending De Anza in the fall, in cupertino.

My CCC offers about six honors classes per semester. They are all filled solely with honors students and are usually capped at about fifteen. In my experience, they have been much more work but much more rewarding as well - the students in them are all trying to transfer to UCs, with most of them aiming towards Berkeley. I really like the atmosphere in these classes. With the exception of maybe Honors College Composition, which is alway offered, the offerings change from semester to semester and fill various IGETC breadth requirements and major prerequisites. I am SO glad that I signed up for our honors program; I think that I am getting a great education in it.

How many honors units have you guys been able to rack up through your honors programs?
