anyone hear from san fran state yet? I applied with around a 2.7-2.8 and am nervously waiting, Im worried i might not get it. I already got accepted to humboldt state and cal state east bay

I got accepted by SF State, I have a 3.2.

So are we supposed to send our transcripts to every CSU right now then? I’ve only sent them to Long Beach and Chico, because they are the only schools that have asked for them.

I got accepted into SDSU!!! My major is finance and I’m in out of state transfer.

San Diego State really isn’t that competitive. If you meet their minimum standards, you will get in. It’s very much like Arizona State. Cal Poly, San Jose, Long Beach, and Sonoma probably have the best overall reputations. Cal Poly Pomona has some good programs, but I’ve heard a lot of negative things about the school. Humboldt St. has some good programs. Chico probably isn’t too bad either, but it still has that huge party reputation.

Isn’t competitive?? Are you crazy? 61,800 applicants applied for the fall of 2010…and only 6k or something like that were accepted. The average GPA of all the freshman for the fall of 2010 is 3.82. This year was one of the most competitive years in a long time.

6,000 probably chose to attend. SDSU definitely does not have a 10% acceptance rate. The reason that they get so many applicants is because of the desirable location. You also have to consider that many of the applicants are sub-par students. I know plenty of slackers from my high school who got into SDSU with average grades and test scores. Most serious students would not consider SDSU, while a place like Long Beach State definitely has a respectable academic reputation.

Too bad the desirable location is what makes it competitive. Do you know plenty of slackers from high school that got in this year (fall 2010)? Probably not.

Portland State and San Francisco State are in great cities too. Does that make them great schools?

Crane why not go to Michigan or Michigan State and then move to California after you graduate? You have good grades and it would be cheaper for you to attend a far superior school. UM/MSU have far better reputations in California than SDSU…

I take it you don’t know any slackers that got in for the fall?

I got accepted into Michigan State, and I never applied to UM. I wouldn’t be able to get into their business school. I take it you’ve never been to Michigan? The weather sucks 364 days a year! I’ve been wanting to move to California since I was 10. Plus it’s actually cheaper for me to go to school out in California than go to school at MSU.

Is getting a high GPA in Community College difficult?

You should ask this in a separate thread and maybe even in the Community College forum.

Generally it is not difficult to get a good GPA at a community college but one needs to do the work and manage the classes–study, turn work in on time, attend classes, and simply master the materials.
