CCC to NYU

Does NYU look favorable or unfavorably upon CCC students. I have a 3.3/3.4 at my CCC, with a 3.8 HS record.... should I bother? I'd love to go, but time isn't a luxury I have to spend filling out apps I have a 15% at getting into

Anything's worth a shot. NYU has no minimum GPA but I believe it says most competitive students have a B+/A average...your situation is a little different since you transferred from a 4 year to a CCC. I'm not sure how they'll view your overall GPA.

what CC did you go to? IF the cc you went to has a agreement that the courses you took are the same as NYU, you have a chance. Also what do you want to major in

I'm going to Irvine Valley College in california, and I'm a history major

Just my opinion. Isn't 3.3 - 3.4 college GPA relatively low compared to successful transfer applicants to NYU who have about 3.6 GPA (between B+ & A)?

Yeah, that was my basic point of bringing that up. But good clarification. The OPs overall GPA is going to be below most successful applicants. In additon to that, one must consider the fact that community college GPAs are going to be looked at differently from most 4 year university GPAs. For example, WashU's website says most successful applicants have at least a B average, while most successful two-year college students have B+ or better. There is a sort of deflation of CC GPAs, in my opinion, which makes a high GPA all the more important for CC students to be competitive.

make sure you get your IGETC and TAP done.

what is IGETC? TAP? are these requirements for NYU transfers??

ha,thanks hobo ;)
