ive never heard of berkeley having a contract. do they?

highschoolda, you're on the scholar's program right?

[/quote]

UNfortunatly not. At my school there were no scholars classes in science etc, so i couldn't work in those classes.

I think it's a really good program. I haven't heard anyone rejected from UCLA who were in the program. But most of the people in it are very bright anyways. At my school the best feature of the program is the good enrollment dates.

But i feel ok about my chances b/c i will have all of my prereqs except a semester of physics, IGETC, good EC. JUst have to work on my essays.

My major is non impacted, it's earth sciences.

i feel iffy about my chances to UCLA. i'll have TAP certification but i won't have my physics done. but i've convinced myself that i can stay a 3rd year and get physics, anatomy, physio, micro and i might even apply directly to pharmacy school.

highschoolda, are you willing to stay a 3rd year? i'm hoping you get admitted, but if you don't what would you do?

Kevin,
Short answer is Hell no. CCC is extremely depressing for me. All my friends are in good schools. I couldn't stand another year there.

I don't recomend it for you either. Pharm schools admitt 95% of the people w/ Bachelors. UCLA doesn't give credit for anatomy and physio.

Try to apply to a non impacted UCLA major.

I am a poli-sci major. I remember it is one of hte ones on the handouts that has an asterik next to saying that it is a highly sought major so blah blah blah.

Kevin,
ANother thing is by staying another year, u'll have a lot of units. Some say it's ok if they are all from CC, some say no. I don't even know how it works. IMO.

But, i think u should get in as long u have everything else except physics.

PLant biology is a very nonimpacted major w/ 3.48 average GPA. if u wanna take that route. good luck

So what exactly are the impacted/non impacted majors at UCLA/Cal?

NO idea about Cal.

Here is a list of impacted at ucla... the ones w/ an astrick or red star are impacted

http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof05_mjr.htm

Thanks for the link.

Do the "average units" represent the units the transfer student had prior to transfering? I thought most students had 60-80 units; those listed are more around 100.

Late, those are quarter units. which 1.5 times less than a semester unit. SO 90 quarter units is 60 semester

highschoolda, what major are you applying under? i hear applying as a general biology major isn't too hard.

I am applying as earth science major.

do you have secondary major? my first choice is biochem, but i just might infact apply as a plant biology major. and i know TAP students get consderation for a 2nd major if they get declined for their primary one. what are you putting down for your 2nd major highschoolda?

my second major doesn't matter b/c i am NOT in tap.

But i'll put down geology or something b/c they are equally non impacted.

how popular is history at ucla with someone in beteen the 3.5-3.6 range.

Someone mentioned the "maximum CCC units" myth. I want to share an email I got from a UCLA representative regarding this...I asked whether it was ok to have in excess of 86 units (ALL FROM CCCS):

"Yes it is fine. Althought we cut off unit credits at 72 semester you will still get credits for the classes and it will count in your GPA."

Oh ok, cool.

highschoolda, were you the one who mentioned that you were volunteering at ucla medical center pharamcy? if so, are you pursuing a career in pharmacy?

yeah, sure am.

It's a long process. I hope to get there.

A bit offtopic, but is okay for me (CCC to UCLA/Cal transfer prospect) to retake the SATs? I had a 1290 back when I took it, but that was without much prep, and I'm sure that if I re-took it now (despite the change in the test) I could get a much higher score. Could I take the ACT? Can I use the new scores on the transfer app?
Thanks.
