cci laptop grant

i have been offered a laptop grant by unc (the Lenovo ThinkPad T430). i noticed it is pretty crappy, and i wud be up for payin extra (the difference) to get a better one. but all the laptops being sold seem pretty crappy..

would it be against the honor code or somethin to take the grant, get the laptop, sell it, and use the money on top of my own money to buy a bettr laptop from a third party??

What exactly are you planning to use the laptop for? All of those laptops will be able to handle any coursework you have quite easily. The only thing that none of those laptops are great at is gaming.

Yes, that would be unethical. Plus if you have a laptop you get from CCI you get tech support in case anything goes wrong. All the laptops offered are fine for any course work you need to do.

i will be using this computer for classwork, but will also be using it for other purposes (no, not gaming).

plus, i’m not a big fan of lenovo. also, i don’t really need the tech support.

i realize some my see it as unethical (not completely sure why tho), but is it against UNC rules?

You’re not sure why it’s unethical? Really? You’re taking funds meant for students who can’t afford any laptop at all and using them so you can get a computer to fulfill your personal desire.

did not post here to hear whether u think it’s unethical or not

^ lolololololololol.

Perhaps your laptop grant should be rescinded if you can afford to pay extra to get your own laptop.

No it would not.

Well… it depends on what you will be using the laptop for… if it is just classwork, then there would be no need to to sell it. Exactly what are you going to use it for?
