Hey I was just wondering who else applied to the College of Creative Studies at UCSB! Also I was wondering how big the applicant pool is cuz I can't find any info online except that approximately 300 are admitted. Plus I don't hear much at all about it on this site which led me to believe the pool can't be too large. Well back to the topic, who else is applying? I'm going for literature!

Bumpppppppp

Actually I think they have 300 majors total. I doubt you’ll hear much on this site because the forums for the UCs other than Cal and UCLA tend to be low-volume in postings, and for a specialized program such as CCS you might be one of the only applicants hanging around here.

From what I’ve heard, they are very responsive to prospective students. So if you have questions about how many students get in or about anything else, I suggest you email or call.

I applied for CCS for biology.

I’m pretty sure there is not 300 majors but I get your point haha and that’s cool, you already send in your application?

I think there are 8 majors in CCS not 300 lol and I’m overnighting it today, fingers crossed

Sweet man, lemme know how it goes! I can’t do none of that living in Georgia and all haha

By “300 majors” I meant 300 students majoring in something offered by CCS and not the count of fields for study; sorry for the confusion
Best of luck to everyone!

Hahah will do. Good luck to everybody.

Did you other hopefuls receive a phone call? Some faculty member called my DS to ask if he had any questions and to make sure he knew there was an additional application. His recommendations were already sent in but he hasn’t finished his letter of intent yet so he hasn’t sent his app in. I noticed the deadlines are all different and DS has 3 weeks left I think before it has to be in. Thought it was interesting and a nice touch to get a personal phone call!

I selected CCS Physics as my alternate major, but I kind of regret doing that, seeing as I am determined to get in.

Anyways, I need to get my letter of intent together (I keep deleting everything I write out of frustration), along with the recommendations and evidence of talent. All I can say is I’m excited for the opportunities that this school provides granted I’m accepted.

I didn’t get a phone call… Hmmm. Perhaps because I dignified it with alternate major.

Well good luck and I didn’t get a phone call either…which slightly worries me haha. You guys know if we get CCS notifications the same day as UCSB?

It’s been awhile since I applied (I’m a CCS physics alumna), but one thing I do recall is that they can’t tell you you’ve been admitted to CCS until you’ve been admitted to UCSB. I also don’t think you’ll be able to find out how many applicants CCS gets and how many they admit - I never heard those stats in all my years there!

My best advice is to really show your enthusiasm for your chosen subject and convince the faculty of your ability to succeed (the CCS faculty in your major read your application). Best of luck! I try to check in here every once in awhile, and I’m happy to answer any questions.

Hope this helps a little.
“For fall UCSB applicants, the College of Creative Studies cannot inform applicants of decisions on their CCS applications until the University of California Santa Barbara has mailed the campuss admission/deferral letters in March. CCS decision letters follow immediately thereafter. A denial from CCS does not negatively affect your admission to one of the other colleges at UCSB.”
This was from the CCS website. It sounds like we should hear something in April.
