I want to get into a closed class at CCSF. At my old CCC, there were waitlists; CCSF doesn't do them I guess.

I emailed the professor, still waiting for a reply.

Has anybody had any luck with this? Are there unofficial waitlists? Has anybody ever just showed up the first day and gotten in/got rejected, or been in a class where the prof dismissed/accepted a lot of unenrolled students at CCSF?

a closed class means, that its not being offered anymore at all.

what do you mean by that? that they’re cancelled classes? because that would be rediculous, pretty much all of the classes are closed. if you mean that absolutely nobody is accepted after it’s full, then that just doesn’t make sense. people drop from classes, so a full class in January is never a full class in May. and if a professor overenrolls a bit, then the college gets more revenue.

have you tried to do this? do you think I have a chance?

well at my CC, when it says closed, that means the class was going to be offered but is no longer offered (for the semester) and is not open to anyone, hence the “closed” status. It wouldnt be unreasonable for all those classes to be closed, ccsf took a HUGE hit during the budget cuts along with bcc, and de anza (every school took major hits, but these ones lost a lottt of money)

Just go to the class on the first day with an add slip (or however you school does it). Many people don’t show up and most of the time you will be able to add the class by just showing up that first day and talking to the professor. I’ve done this plenty of times with success. Good luck!

u should call the school first, and find out what “closed” means.

^ Closed means the class is full and so is the wait list if there is one for it. Only math and English and few other popular classes and online classes have a wait list, and those list can only go up to 10-15 people.

If you have any question about CCSF send me a PM.

I’ve gotten into classes before at CCSF by showing up the first day. Most of the time the professor will tell everyone who wants to add to right there name on the paper and there registration date. Then they will add people after 2-3 sessions. Other professor will just add people on the first day based on registration date. Some professor will add a lot of students if they have room.

Again send me a PM if you have any questions about CCSF.
