I know this is a long shot, but if any of you have taken Calc I at CCSF can you please help me?

Right now I have a block on my registration for math above a certain level. I want to take Calc I in the fall. Prereqs are intermediate algebra (I'm assuming high school algebra 2 is equivalent), geometry, and pre-calc/trig. I passed algebra 2 and geometry in high school. I'm in the process of taking pre-calc/trig online this summer. I went to CCSF today and they said they won't let me register for the class until I have a final grade in the class, which is a bummer because that probably won't happen till right before the semester starts.

Soooo....I was just curious how official of a final grade they need. All of the calc sections are almost full and I really need this class. I think it's ridiculous that an in progress class doesn't count for registration. I even asked if I could register for the class now, and be required to submit my final grade later, and if I didn't pass I would be dropped. The dean said no. I think that's so stupid, so I plan on forging the final grade just so I can register for it now.

Is there an intense process for them checking the final grade? Or can I just show anyone at matriculation services unofficial transcripts and they'll take the block off?

Well, thinking about what would probably happen (completely hypothetitical as I don’t have any experience) if it doesn’t say final grade im pretty sure you should be able to put your current grade and say that you didnt know if it goes badly later.

Forging the final grade? Academic dishonesty will get you blacklisted.

I don’t know about you but I had to take an examination when I started community college called the COMPASS to be placed into classes. The first time I took it I got into Pre-Algebra and I showed them my transcripts from high school that said I had taken up to Algebra II, so I should be at least at that level. They said no. I came back a few weeks later after some studying, took it again, and I got into Calculus I. So, I don’t know if there’s a way you can show that you’ve got some mathematical chops at your school, but I’d highly recommend that you do not forge your grade. You stand a chance of being caught.

All in all, if your grades don’t match…you’re screwed. Completely. I think they will check but if you don’t get caught consider yourself lucky. This is kind of immoral, though.

How about seeing if they will allow you to register for your Calc class if you produce a passing score in the CLEP Pre-Calculus exam? You can take that exam any time, supposedly all CA Community Colleges accept them for general ed credit (but you should always double-check), and even best, you get an immediate score at the end of the computer exam.
