Does anyone know how the rejected email looks? Someone post the rejected one and the accepted one. It’s odd that there have been no rejections yet. Also, I think UPenn’s program is the same week so it will be interesting to see how many individuals will get off the wait list this year. Here is my cousins letter. Someone post the other ones please.
Also, are they giving out fee waivers this year? The email shows no signs of this.
Dear Nick,
This year we received an overwhelming number of applications for the Columbia Engineering Experience. Due to the program’s small size and the limited number of campus accommodations, we are unable to offer you a chance to participate at this time. However, you are one of a small number of candidates placed on a waitlist to be considered for CE² should space be available after October 2. The selection committee sincerely admired your commitment to the field of engineering, and we were impressed with your academic profile, writing abilities and extracurricular activities.
You do not need to take any additional action at this time. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be in touch should an opening be available once we have received responses from invited participants. We will alternatively notify you in early October should the program remain full.
We appreciate your interest in Columbia University.
Everyone gets a fee waiver? I think. You’re right about PEEP and CE2 conflict. I know of at least 3 spots that will open up for CE2. I’m not sure if PEEP has a waitlist.
Rejected, just to ease all your worries that people didn’t get rejected, lol.
The letter I got was essentially the same as the wait list letter except without the wait list part, and I also got a fee waiver.
I hope you guys have a blast!
turns out I will not be able to go :’( However, I think getting into the program increases me chances of getting into Columbia so I guess it was worth it. Let me know if anyone of you get my spot. Good luck to all of you on the waitlist.

@loveto@orangesRkool@SeattleChick@gebo342 I’m curious as to what y’alls stats are. I wonder how holistic this process was. The application was pretty long compared to other flyins. I’m so excited though!!

I think what set me apart were the essays; all three really showed how I am different from most aspiring engineers. I mentioned social problems and how engineering principles can be used to resolve them.
So… for wait listed people, we’ll find out if we got off the wait list on October 3rd? (Because they said if there is space open after October 2nd they’ll let us know, right?)

I definitely see a problem in my SAT scores (which I’m retaking) and a horrible junior year transcript which I will not post here. My essays were on point, but I have no real experience with engineering save my internship at the local university.
Ah well… Well see in April.
I got in without any major engineering extracurriculars, so for future applicants don’t bee deterred if you don’t think you’re qualified. Just let your passion shine through in the essays. I really think that’s what set me apart.
