When my daughter was on campus for UVA Model United Nations, her U.S. Cellular phone provided great service.

Verizon is good, but charlottesville is big enough most cell carriers are good.

verizon and cingular are the best from my experience.

My daughter has cingular.

I got a text message for her today cussing it out.
Service is spotty at best for her.

She has the 900 minute plan, usually has 150 or so left over each month. We had to up her from the 500 and that was the next plan. Unlimited text messages. Started out with 200 month, and quickly went over.

I have Cingular and have never had a problem with it. The signal is weak in certain places (in the Rotunda "tunnel", for example), but the students would have to chime in about service in the residence halls. Do a search...this topic has come up before.

By the way, I can get a Cingular signal while hiking up in Shenandoah National Park and on the Blue Ridge Parkway, where others have had trouble getting Sprint/Embark signals.

kk, thanx all

I think i might go w/ cingular or T-mobile

I haven't had any problems over the past two years with Verizon.

I had Cingular first year but switched because my friends with Verizon seemed to get much better service. I have never regretted that decision. Verizon just gets better service around here.

i think verizon generally has better service anywhere. it just costs more

If you're an international student or are planning to travel oversees a lot, I would go with Cingular/AT&T or T-Mobile, because their phones work everywhere in the world. Verizon doesn't have great international service everywhere - like their phones work in France but not in England.

Verizon is definately the best.
