Cell Phone Company Question

Asking this here as there are not many Penn parent posts.

We have service through T-Mobile (California) and have been pretty happy with it. With my S going to Penn and wanting to upgrade his phone, was wondering which companys (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) are popular and liked (or not liked) there? I see that there is a discount for Penn students at AT&T, Verizon, & Sprint.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No complaints about Verizon.

My friends with T-Mobile complain about it a lot.
I have Verizon and have never had a problem, and I don’t think I’ve heard any complaints about AT&T. Haven’t really heard anything about sprint. I don’t know about AT&T (they could have this too), but I think phone calls and texts from one Verizon phone to other Verizon customers are free, and since Verizon is very popular, that could save you some money on a plan.

AT&T was completely fine when I spent 2 weeks there last month.

On 34th street there is a at&t and verizon store

More like half a Verizon store with no technical support, but you can get that downtown easily.

We are keeping my S service with Verizon but upgrading his phone. Calls and texts between Verizon phones are free and most of our family is with Verizon. Verizon has always worked well when we have visited the Philly area and they are good about sending replacement phones and accessories via FedEx overnight for no charge if there are any problems.

We use Sprint and never have connection problems. We live just outside of Philly and spend a lot of time there and it is always reliable. We used to use Verizon and it was fine in the city but not as reliable out here in the burbs. Sprints plans allow free text and calls to any mobile number regardless of carrier I also think they have less expensive plans with full call/txt and unlimited internet than Verizon. just read today that Sprint will have the iPhone by December but it is possibly/probably just a rumor.
Thanks everyone! Took the plunge today and got him a Verizon phone (HTC Thunderbolt). Now I want a new phone…
