Cell phone coverage

My D is a freshman and has AT&T cell phone plan. She is getting very poor coverage in her dorm and around campus. Does anyone have experience with AT&T and which provider is best on campus. Thanks!

My daughter has the same problem. No solution. If you find one, please let me know.

Didn’t have any problems with Verizon.

I haven’t done this myself, but perhaps contact AT&T to inquire about this:

[AT&T 3G MicroCell - Wireless Signal Booster - Wireless from AT&T](http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/3gmicrocell.jsp?fbid=UmKUxYEAIBS)

Great idea IIII. Tell AT&T that you want it at no cost as you will switch carriers if they don’t help you out. I have one at home sent to us no charge as they were worried about losing us due to bad coverage near our home. Good Luck!

Verizon works fine in Newark. We were lucky, I took my D off our AT&T account a few days before she left for school because they wouldn’t upgrade her to an iPhone which I’d promised her she could have when she went off to school. Her 2 years were up, so I canceled her line and opened a single line account for her at Verizon and ported her number over. She has been thanking me profusely ever since.

If you have your student on a family plan and her 2 yrs aren’t up you could cut the service on that line at ATT to the absolute mininmum (until the contract is up) and open a single phone account on Verizon.

Thanks so much. I think I will switch her over to Verizon. We are on a family plan so I will have to see the most economical way to make the switch. Thanks for your suggestions!
