Cell Phone Reception

Hi everyone,

My cell phone service is about to expire and so my parents wanted to start a new family-plan contract with a company that gets good reception at Princeton.... Can any current students fill me in on what they use and if it's working well?

See the Daily Princetonian Article on 12/16/05 that Verizon is adding a new cell phone tower that should improve Verizon campus reception:
"'Can you hear me now?' Verizon to add new tower"
Verizon Wireless will put a new tower on the roof of New South next month, giving Verizon customers better reception on campus. . .

My sons have Verizon and reception varies from building to building; however, it should improve with the new tower. A close friend switched to Verizon since it had better reception than his previous plan.

verizon has the best reception in princeton as a town. tmobile and cingular are acceptable, and in some locations, better than verizon. Verizon is in general the best though. I don't know about specifically for campus, but with a new verizon tower on campus, that's a pretty strong indicator that verizon is the way to go.

It also depends your room. S has cingular and is in basement. His cell has never worked.

T Mobile generally works pretty well on campus.

sprint? anyone?

I have Sprint right now. When I visited, reception was atrocious! Literally, the phone never worked unless I went outside into a large open area.

I'm definitely switching to Verizon next year.

I agree. Sprint is terrible! My daughter switched to Verizon which is much better.

S's Cingular works just fine inside Holder Hall.
