my family’s sprint pcs contract is up at the end of june, so we were debating on if we should switch services or not.

my question is: for anyone that has sprint PCS service in boston/at BU. how good is the sprint service around the area? do sprint phones work in the dorms (warren or the hojo, as that’s where i’ll most likely end up)? or is there a better service to have?

I can't speak to Sprint service, but my S has Verizon and many of his friends also do. I haven't heard complaints about the service. Verizon is strong in Boston.

Most people at BU have Verizon, because it has the best service in Boston. Also, since everyone has it, you can take advantage of IN calling, since most people are on the same network. I'd definitely recommend it as well.

Is IN Calling like T-Mobile's Mobile-to-Mobile service (ie. calling another person with the same carrier is "free"/unlimited)? And while we're at it, can anyone speak to T-Mobile's strength in Boston? Thanks guys!

Pennilane: I HIGHLY recommend switching from Sprint to Verizon if you can. One of my best friends had sprint and it was just terrible, she could NEVER call someone without the call being dropped. She also had NO reception in her dorm room on the 2nd floor in West Campus. I myself have verizon and have never lost a call, or never had no reception in the Boston Area. Also, with the vast majority of my friends on the Verizon IN network, all of our calls are free, which makes for hour long talks with no guilt. The only thing Boston needs now is reception in the subway haha (that would be wicked cool).

Oh to the previous poster, yes, all calls made between Verizon IN network users are free.

in general, verizon and cingular are the best in boston.

but sometimes it depends on the exact location and maybe phone type too. i have cingular and wasnt able to get service in the GSU, but my roommate with verizon was.. and yet sometimes he couldnt even get it in the dorm room.

I have Tmobile. the reception on campus is great, as long as you are not in a building. for some buildings it is okay (photonics), but otherwise the service is mediocre at best. i lived in myles standish and the service was haphazard.
