Cell Phone Service

D says it looks like most students use Cingular/ATT or Verizon at Furman. Any thoughts about which is best (or is another carrier better)? We need to change carriers, because our current carrier doesn't service Greenville (fortunately, contract is up in August!). We were hoping to find out what "most" students have, so that hopefully her friends will be on the same plan (free calling!). Thanks for any info you can give me!

My son goes to Furman - he says that Verizon is best.

Thanks. That was the thought my D had after reading facebook.

How does your son like Furman? My D picked it over Vanderbilt & Tufts ... she keeps second-guessing herself, but she picked it for very good reasons. She will calm down once she gets there & gets immersed in everything. She's the type that would worry no matter what!

Verizon is the best in Greenville. I was happy with the service in surrounding areas as well.

My D go to Furman. She loves it. D has spent some time at Georgetown, NYU and Columbia. She still thinks FU was the best choice for her.

That's what I like to hear!!

Verizon or Alltel are the best options. But, for the most part, most services are compatible in the upstate.

Hey, HOBYNC. Nice to hear from you! We use TMobile, which uses the Suncom network in Greenville. We sure don't want all D's calls to be roaming --- it doesn't cost anything, but the cell carriers get upset when too many calls come on another network.

Thanks for your input. We were definitely leaning toward Verizon, and your comment helps.

BTW, D will be in Poteat this year, doing Vocations. She is looking forward to September.
