Cell phone service

What works best at Penn? and in order of preference please.

AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are all virtually free of dead spots. T-Mobile is terrible.

verizon doesn't like the forum level of huntsman very much.

I think I'm gonna go with att.

Verizon is the best everywhere!

Um except Penn...

besides, no iPhone on verizon! ;)

ATT/Cingular works very well everywhere.

AT&T also has a special arrangement with Penn that lets them extend special discounts to students. I believe it's waived activation fee, additional phone discount, and 10% off your monthly bill. And if you fail the credit check, they'll waive the $500 deposit (as long as you show them your PennCard)

They have a corporate-owned AT&T store right on 38th & Walnut, too

No one gets decent service in the forum in huntsman. It's underground. Have had good results with both Sprint and Verizon, but Sprint was weak high up in the highrises.

For sprint plans... if you type in your penn email address... you can get 23% of everything :)

Any specific cell phones you guys recommend? I'm really into the idea of having a cell/PDA, any good ones you can tell me about?

There's this new phone that everyone has been excited about as of late...can't remember what it's called ;)

If you are not cool/rich for the iPhone, you should look at the Palm Treo devices. Unlike most iterations of Windows Mobile phones, the Treo has been around for several generations and the refinement is clear in its design--it's also the only one that comes in Palm OS and WinMob flavors.

But yeah, get the iPhone...lord knows I'm going straight from PHL to the AT&T store when I get back from commie china ;)

is there any discount on the iPhone?

AT&T/Cingular works well on campus
