Which plan has better service in Binghamton, AT&T or Verizon?

I can only speak for myself on this one. I have verizon and I don’t think there is any location on campus that I don’t have cell service unless it is the basement of the union (the tunnel connecting the old and new unions).

Seconding Bing Ambassador. Verizon has service (generally excellent reception) everywhere on campus, as well as in the surrounding area.

I can’t speak for the campus specifically, but I can say that I’ve never lost reception in the area with AT&T.

I’ve heard great things about verizon. I have t mobile and I usually don’t have a problem with service. But I hate t mobile as a company… ugh. And I think most people seem to have verizon on campus.

I use AT&T and have excellent coverage on campus an around Binghamton. I believe that AT&T has a cell tower on top of the library tower.

Overall, Verizon has better service in Upstate New York. If you go anywhere in the nearby vicinity you will have better service with Verizon; right on campus it will probably be a tossup. 3G will be better overall with Verizon as well in central and western new york.

What about T-Mobile. It seem to work O.K. when we visited a campus

T-mobile works okay in Binghamton, Syracuse, and Ithaca, but for some reason has almost no reception in Cortland and surrounding area.

My boyfriend has T-mobile service, and heading from Binghamton to Syracuse, his car broke down. We got stranded, and we were really sweating it because his phone kept going down to zero bars (I didn’t have a cell phone at the time). I really wouldn’t recommend T-mobile because it seems pretty unreliable.

If you have Verizon or AT&T, I wouldn’t worry about switching carriers, but with T-mobile I would consider. You’ll probably be fine with it, but there are better services out there, especially in NY.

I haven’t had any problems with T mobile, though I’m looking to switch to verizon once my plan runs up.
