I assume, since it's Boston, the cell phone service is good all over campus and in all the buildings, true?

Does anyone have any comments on particularly good or bad service in and around NEU?

We currently have AT&T, but our service contract is up next month, and I'm thinking about switching to Verizon.

Thanks in advance.

i came to boston in need of a provider, and i was directed toward sprint. i have never not had all 5 bars in boston. i’ve been extremely pleased. i have friends with verizon as well as at &t and they seem satisfied with it.

i think every major city in the US is pretty good with all providers.

^ I figured as much. I just thought I’d check, since we have so much trouble with service in our area. Thanks for the info.

I have Verizon and I get full service all over the city and in every place on campus. I’d advise getting a plan with lots of texts, if not unlimited. I never ever texted anyone in high school, although I had a few on my old plan, but when I came here I saw that no one ever uses a phone the normal way. Now I’m one of those people who can’t imagine life without unlimited mobile instant messaging.

So unlimited texting better than having internet access (smartphone or blackberry)? Asked another way, if the phone has email access will the student also need to do a lot of texting?

Unlimited texting and internet access :)

Everybody texts a lot, in my experience. My roommate has an iPhone but still primarily communicates via text. I have unlimited texting, but I really wish I had internet access as well. As I said, my roommate has an iPhone, so we use that to find directions to places and whatnot when we’re out and about, but when I’m without her, I realize just how handy it is.

Good advice on unlimited texting and internet. Thanks!

haha if you have to choose, I’d go for the texts. Smartphones require like a ‘data package’ or whatever it’s called that can be really expensive.

Yeah I’m definitely extremely happy to have unlimited texting, and I’m functioning without Internet. But if you can afford both, I would definitely go for it!
