Cell phones, cars, etc.

Do they allow you to use cell phones and cars in boarding schools? Also, are you able to set up bank accounts? If so, how much money should be in it? What banks would be best for this in NH, MA, etc.?

Yeah I would like to know too. I would set up an account. And my mom said she would get me a cell phone. :) I hope they allow it though.

Jonathan about the elite thing. Can you belive this she doesn't even know yet. :( That sucks. :(

Much of this is school specific. Cell phones are ubiquitous. Cars are for day students only and riding w/ said is heavily controlled & restricted. As for banking.........you can either bank at your home bank or set up an account in the town where your school is located. Personally I think a bank account in your home town at a bank your parents can work with is easier. Many banks allow a number of free ATM transactions out of system.

Okay thats cool. :)

This is helpful (thanks phillipian)

At Andover, most people use Bank of America. There is a machine on campus in the building with the mailroom.

Sweet. Thanks.

I've lived in MA and NH. We use Banknorth

yes, though dont spend money recklessly because the bills do go to your parents, you know.

at the fall orientation for andover, i think there's a booth where you can sign up for an account at the bank of america. and yes, there's an ATM machine in george washington hall (from what i last remember).
