cellphone reception on UCSC campus

i read on the UCSC website that there isn't much reception due the the location of the universtiy and i was wondering does t-mobile or cingular work up there since they only mentioned verizon as a provider. does anyone use anything besides verizon and actually gets reception for the most part? i just want to be on the safe side instead of getting a plan that wont do me any good. thank you =)

i got tmobile. it really sucks at some parts of the dorms & res colleges, but at other parts it's good. but it mainly sucks. verizon's good i think

Verizon is the best. I have cingular and it's the same situation as t-mobile.

There are several new cell towers this year, they need to update the website. Cingular and Verizon are good choices. Tmobile is pretty good, Sprint works in town and some on campus.

oh thank you! so i guesss cingular would be ok then? i'm trying to work around affordability. when you say tmobile is pretty good what do you think the reception percentage rate would be?? ok thanks again everyone!

The tour guide answered this and said that Tmobile is good for only the east side of the campus while Verizon worked well on the west side of campus. Both tour guides recommended SPRINT!

I don't know a single person with Sprint.

Everyone and their mother has Cingular, and cingular gives UCSC affiliates a discount (i think 15%?). The only places I don't get service are in the middle of concrete buildings (well duh) and the baskin arts area.

Tmobile is good on the west side for sure, I don't know about east side.

Verizon is definitely strong on the west side, I dont' know about the east side.

i was planning on porter or college8 so would that be ok? i dont know my directions cos i haven't visited yet =/

West side = Kresge, Porter, c8, Oakes

East side = Merrill, Crown, Stevenson, Cowell

North/Middle = c19
