What cellphone providers have good reception in Ann Arbor and the campus? I have T-Mobile right now, should I switch?

i hope Sprint is good…thats wut ive got :s …

Ann Arbor is big enough so that they should all get pretty good reception. I forget which networks Tracfone latches on to if you have a GSM phone, but whatever they are, I’m getting all bars from a room in Markley right now.

After taking a tour on North Campus, we were told that we’d be lucky to get phone reception in the dorm. I have verizon, and was unable to make or receive calls. I know there are landline phones but was hoping that this would not be a problem from my cell. Can someone let me know if this is a real problem, and if there is a better service?

I have verizon too in North Campus… if we can’t get any sort of reception… won’t that be jussssttttt a little social setback?

I’ve got Verizon.

From what I recall, it is a bit sketchy in some places, though perhaps that is just my phone. I seem to remember being fine in Baits, and all around the North Campus quad, as well as most everywhere on Central. It wasn’t really that bad that I noticed much, or that it affected my life in any big way.

How’s Sprint?

The service with the strongest signal would probably be AT&T. I’ve tried using it, and I never had a time when I was plagued with "no signal"s. Worked pretty well on North Campus also.

Sprint has the second strongest signal (I use Sprint) in my opinion. It has good coverage in Central Campus but does have trouble getting signal in North Campus (but trust me, that’s a fact with almost every provider).

Verizon is after Sprint. If you’re in a North Campus dorm, try not to get a Verizon or a T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is the worst of the big providers in AA in my opinion. I’ve seen the most no signals with them.

That’s strange. I have T-Mobile, and I haven’t had any problems, even though I was living on North Campus.

Dude, Ann Arbor is a big town. Every service has its pros and cons. You’ll have a different opinion from almost every different person you ask! Just stick with your service. It’ll work just fine.

When visiting Bursley last week we were unable to make or recieve calls with a Verizon service. This does concern me. If living in Bursley, please let me know which one works best.

I have At&T and I don’t ever remember having less than 5 bars, but that wasn’t a thing I had to worry about/notice after the first week anyways. However, most of my friends at Michigan seem to have Sprint.

Can anyone attest to virginmobile? I suppose I won’t be using a phone much, and it’s pretty self-manageable and has a cheap min-by-min sort of thing. But with that being said, I’m not sure if service is reliable, esp on campus.
