currently, i have sprint service for my cell phone. it works average -not good, not bad- here down in socal. the end of my contract with sprint is coming to an end soon and i was just wondering if sprint gets good service/reception up in berkeley - and even more specifically, in unit 2.

if anyone has used sprint up there before, how well does it work? i'm particularly interested in knowing how well sprint works becuase i have a pretty good plan with them going on, and if i resign up for another multi-year term, i can get it for pretty cheap.

on a side note, if i do end up switching providers, how is t-mobile? cingular? verizon? anything else i'm missing? thanks

I have cingular and verizon and they both work great. I think cingular works better, but i dont know about in unit 2. I heard t-mobile isnt too great.

i live in socal (glendale) and use cingular usually always get full bars, and when i was up at berkeley for calday and orientation my reception was excellent..as far as i can remember all full bars (except in some damn class room where i had none...concrete roof?)

I had T-Mobile and it worked quite well besides in two places 1) the mini suites (concrete and steel- in these, I think verizon often works (but not always), and I'm not sure about others) 2) underground/in some classrooms.

Another question: Is there any good mobile shops by Cal that is good? Not the official Sprint, Cingular, Verizon stores, but the 3rd party ones which can get contracts for multiple service providers? When my contract expires, I NEED to get a new phone. My current actually LAGS, kind of pathetic.
