Urgent Help Needed:
One of the school districts are not administering PSAT and when I reached to AP Board, they have provided a link and advised me to reach out to schools who are administering and also allow outside school to take PSAT. I have reached out to 30-40 schools and no one is ready to allow kid to write the exam!!! Wanted to reach out folks and get some help/advice as PSAT is approaching fast and I did not see any way out – any help is highly appreciated.
Sorry you are having trouble! If your child cannot take the PSAT but you feel that they would score well, another option to consider is “Alternate Entry.” Here’s a recent thread that discusses this option: PSAT 2022 Test centers
Edited to add: I just noticed that your kid is in 10th grade. I don’t know what to suggest in that case. Our school district doesn’t offer the PSAT at all to sophomores, no exceptions. Even for juniors, our school only has enough capacity for half of the junior class, and if more students want to take it, the seats are distributed by lottery. Good luck!
Thanks a lot. For 11th grade person (who is my cousin’s son), is there any help?
Please advice.
If your cousin’s son wants to take the PSAT for National Merit eligibility, I would suggest looking at the link I posted above. There is some discussion in that thread about Alternate Entry.

This link is not working for alternate entry
The only people who can resolve this are College Board.
Before you go crazy trying to get your kid in for the PSAT, be aware that the student can ONLY qualify for National Merit Scholarships if they take the PSAT as a Junior (11th grade.) There is no need for a 10th grader to take the PSAT, with the exception of a 10th grader who is planning to graduate a year early AND is hoping to be a National Merit Scholar.
Your friend with an 11th grader needs to ask this question themselves. The ONLY reason for needing to take the PSAT is if the student is really trying to qualify for National Merit Scholarships (NMSQT). If your friend’s kid is taking the PSAT for any other reason, there is no need. But again, no one here can resolve this issue. Your friend needs to call College Board.
As there is nothing more to be done about this on CC, and you are asking about a 10th grader and a friend’s kid, I am closing.
