Central Texas ------> New England : What is it like?

I've lived in central Texas my whole life, and have never even seen the eastern half of the united states. I'm considering going to college in the northeast to experience something knew.

Does anyone have any experience in making a big change like this for going to college? Did you regret it, or was it a good experience?

Used to live in Colorado, moved to PA in fifth grade. The air was a lot less dry, and the winter snow stuck around a lot longer. The summer was more pleasant, actually, because of the humidity, which some people hate. Just be ready, though. The biggest change was that the east coast was a part of the United States long before Texas or Colorado was. So a lot of the buildings, and the general feel of the place, is much older. The atmosphere is different in that sense.

You’ll be fine. You’ll love it. Leave the brightly colored clothes at home. Try not to make too many comparisons, it will annoy folks. You’ll miss puffy tacos.

Puffy tacos haha…

Yeah, I can’t wait to get away from the bland weather here in central Texas. Anyone else have any other advice/comments?

I recently went to Boston to look at colleges, and it was as hot there as it is here :frowning:
but the bostonians did say that it was a wicked hot summer

It’s a great adventure. Just wait until you get to New England to buy the winter gear and see what everybody there is wearing. (California to Boston)

They will mock and laugh at you when you say “y’all”, but keep it, it will be charming when they get to know you.

Lol yeah i didnt even know i had an accent much and said yall until i went to illinois and everyone pointed it out to me.

I love the northeast. Couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Perfect weather, not too hot (thank God. I hate the heat.) and not too cold (…in my opinion. I happen to like the cold, so others may disagree.)
