Hey guys,

I'm an RD applicant to Rice. I'm wondering what chance I stand in winning either/both of these scholarships (as well as any the other Rice scholarships).

Very basic stats: 1550,800/800/780/750 and ranked in the top 1% of my class. I also will be sending a research abstract of the project I completed this summer working as an intern at Boeing Satellite Systems. Please visit my profile and click the link for more stats.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! =)

Excellent shot at Century scholars - you have better stats than me, and I got it, but I had done 2 summers of research, so I guess that balances out. There are actually quite a few century scholars - I always thought that they should advertise the fact that they really do give out many many merit scholarships, but they don't, so I told you. Anyway, I think you will get century scholars, which, btw is a really great program. Check out the website if you haven't already.

Don't know anything about the engineering scholarship.

I think you are also in the running for a trustee's distinguished scholarship as well (8,000/year for 4 years).

Hey, thanks a lot Jen ;). It's nice to hear that my chances are good!

By the way, did you have an interview? I, uh, kinda forgot to schedule one and now it's way past the interview request deadline (Dec. 19). Do you think it will hurt my admission/scholarship chances if I never had an interview?

Well, i had an on-campus interview, but this is one of those things that is over and done with at this point, so I don't think you should worry about it. I don't think interviews have a really huge impact anyway, to tell you the truth.

for ED applicants, are merit scholarships awarded in the acceptance package they got in december? or does notification of that come later?

mine came in the acceptance packet, but that was last year. I saw that you already asked in the ED thread, which will give you better info.
