CEPS scholarship

My son was invited to apply for the CEPS scholarship at UNH. Does anyone have any info on this scholarship?

My daughter was too. I believe it’s this one Scholarships | Financial Aid

Do you know how much the CEPS scholarship is for? It seems they somehow didn’t classify my son as EA, and so he didn’t get invited to apply for the scholarship. Trying to figure out how hard to work on trying to change that.
Thanks!

They have various named scholarships in CEPs for incoming students. The application process and interviews are for the Industry Scholarships - bigger scholarships including full and partial scholarships with only a couple each year.

List of other scholarships in CEPS, some available to upperclassmen:

And the Industry Scholarship info:

Awarded to:

  • First-Year Applicants to the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences

Amount:

  • Variable — each scholarship covers a significant portion of a student’s tuition, fees, and room & board for four years of undergraduate education at UNH.

How to apply:

  • Early action applicants who are competitive for the CEPS Industry Scholarship will receive an email inviting them to apply shortly after they receive their admit decision to a major within UNH’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
  • All finalists will be invited to participate in a Zoom video interview as part of the scholarship review process in early March.
  • Applicants will be notified of the results by mid-March or early April.

Criteria and restrictions:

  • Students must apply to a major in UNH’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences by the November 15 Early Action option to be eligible for consideration.
  • Selection is very competitive and is not automatic. Eligible students must present a rigorous program of study including a minimum of four years of mathematics and four years of science with preference given to Pre-Engineering Programs, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses.
  • Scholarship is awarded each year to the highest caliber students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
  • Please note that the Whelan Scholarship requires that students submit a completed Free Application for Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 and have demonstrated financial need.
  • Other factors that are considered, but weighed less heavily, in the awarding process include diversity (broadly defined), leadership experiences, and high school or community involvement.

And while he may not be able to apply now for the Industry Scholarships, there are significant scholarships available in later years, too. They can include tuition and research opportunities.

Definitely have him sign up for Innovation Scholars. He should be getting emails about that. It opens up all kinds of doors for them.
