I’m conflicted if i should choose the cerro vista apartments or the dorms. On my application i choose to dorm because i thought that dorms would be able to provide a better social environment. However I am a terribly light sleeper, i virtually need zero sound to be able to sleep. I’m kind of stuck because i want to social aspect the dorms will be able to provide but also the quietness of having my own room. Are the cerro vista apartments really as isolated or is it just a rumor. A little insight would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

I lived in cerro as a freshman, and my advice is go with the dorms. You only get one chance to live in the dorms, so try it out. If you hate it, you’re almost guaranteed to find someone living in cerro who will want to switch. As far as noise, they (housing) recommends ear plugs. Also, just cause you have your own room in cerro does not necessarily mean it will be quiet. The walls and floors there are paper thin. Well not paper thin, but you get what I mean, you can still hear stuff.

Cerro is not like completely isolated. It’s not like you never see other people. But it’s generally not like in the dorms where all you have to do is open your door to meet people. You definitely have to make more of an effort in cerro. The dorms are more social, but if you really, really like your privacy, than cerro might be a better option.
