Certificate for Proficiency in a foreign language requirement.

It says on the UC application page that one of the ways you can fulfill a Language Other than English requirement (if you haven't taken two years of that language in HS) is to get a certificate from your principal. How do you submit this?

Does someone atleast know where to look for this info?

I’m pretty sure that it’s up to each high school to choose whether or not they administer these kinds of tests, and I think the content may be up to them, too. At least that was the case for my high school. How are your scores reported to you? I’m sure it’s kind of paper with someone’s signature, etc? Talk to the counselor of your school and tell them to send it in like they would send in a regular transcript or something :)

It is not a language for which an SAT Subject or AP test is given, or for which a widely recognized language proficiency test is given?

No, it isn’t @UCBalumnus
How necessary are the A-G courses anyway? Seeing as I’m an international?

The a-g course list is required for eligibility unless you are [eligible by exam](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/requirements/examination/index.html). Note: eligibility does not mean that you will be admitted; it means that you won’t be immediately rejected based on not meeting basic requirements.

As an international, did you attend school for two years at sixth grade or higher using a primary language other than English? That is another way to satisfy the requirement: [University of California - a-g Guide](http://www.ucop.edu/a-gGuide/ag/a-g/language_reqs.html)

Well, I’m eligible by exam.
But I assumed the exam had to be taken in the language whose requirement isn’t fulfilled in a-g.
If not (cause I’ve taken Sat 2 in chem and Lit) then I AM eligible by exam, and YOU have just made my day. :)
