CES vs CNS

Hey guys!
So I’ve pretty much decided that I will be attending UT Austin this fall. I’ve been accepted for ECE at CES, however I’ve been tossing up the option of changing my major to CS at CNS. And to be honest, I’m slightly confused as to what I want to do.
So I had a few questions. How difficult is it to change colleges at Austin if I apply for a change right now?
What exactly is the difference between the two? What is the scope of undergrad research or getting an internship? Is there a difference in prestige if I graduate from either of the colleges?
Thanks, and I hope to see y’all in the future!

ECE has more of a hardware focus. EE grads either deisgn semiconductors, or write s/w to drive a particular hardware configuration. CS grads write s/w at higher levels, less dependent on whatever hardware its running on and more general. These are generalities of course, but true. In addition to math, in ECE you will also take Physics and hardware design in depth, In CS math also (you have to have it), but not the others (there is a basic hardware course). The focus is on different operating systems, advanced algorithms for efficient s/w design, algorithm design classes, s/w compiler classes, data structure classes, etc. So you can see the difference in focus. It depends what you like more, hardware (with some software), or just software.

Also I think if you get good grades you can switch from ECE to CS,since ECE is a demanding curriculum.
