CFA Exam: When to take?

Hello, I recently graduated in May and received my bachelors in economics. I've been wondering if it is foolish to take the CFA level one in december? I have no work experience (yet) but that is something I intend to get while studying for the exams. If I pass all three exams before the required four years (48 months) of work experience, what would my status be? More specifically, what would my status be if I pass Level One in December? CFA Candidate, Member, Charterholder, Affiliate Member?

I'm just a little confused about the hierarchy of statuses, and if someone who has more knowledge of the CFA exam can clarify, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This has been addressed somewhat in this thread

cbreeze: that link to the previous thread was informative, thanks. and so, to redirect to my original question, if i passed this level one exam, i would officially be a cfa candidate, correct?

After you passed CFA level 1, you will be a L2 candidate.
