do you think this passes?
BB Throw 68'
Pull Ups 11
Shuttle Run 9.5
chrunches 67
Push Ups 56
Mile Run 6.52

well what they are looking for is how you compare to the averages.

bb throw - Above (67 ft)
pullups - Above (9)
shuttle - Below (9.1 sec)
crunches - Below (72)
push ups - Above (54)
Mile - Below (6:43)

I can't see west point not accepting those scores..
my scores that were judged as qualified:
bb throw- 98 ft
pull ups - 6
shuttle- 7.9 sec
crunches - 76
push ups - 63
mile - 6:55

I'm guessing they also take into account that i'm 6'3'' 220 lbs.

One thing to remember with the USMA application is that the CFA counts for 10% of your whole candidate score. It is worth putting in extra effort to "do the best that you can" rather than just aiming to pass.

My scores were:
bball: 84.7 ft
pullups: 12
shuttle: 9.2
situps: 91
pushups: 52
mile: 8:27

i'm a bit worried about that run score. could i flat out fail just based on the bad run? and can i take it again and submit new scores even if i have already submitted the ones above?

Im not sure about USMA, but that run killed me for USAFA. I have been working my butt off, and USAFA is letting me take it again next week :D

get your pushups higher too and your shutte quicker, everything else is good

sorry i got to say it but unless your some recruited athlete, valedictiorian, or super candidate, then they definately need to see a faster mile--as for everything else, they would accept

"can i take it again and submit new scores even if i have already submitted the ones above?"

For USMA the answer is no, once you have submitted your scores to admissions you cannot retake the CFA and submit new scores unless admissions invites you to do so.

Steves09:

Don't give up!! While Ann is correct that you cannot re-submit scores unless asked to do so by admissions, if you are an otherwise stellar candidate, USMA will allow re-takes. My plebe actually took the CFA 3 times. First one was administered by track coach, who was NOT a certified PE instructor. Please take note: rules had changed since this coach had given a CFA for another student in our school a few years before. Since he did not realize that coach was no longer qualifed, they allowed a second try... this time BB throw was considerably short.... they sent it back and said "retake" for third time. The last time BB throw was fine, but run time was bad (though now a year later, I do not remember the exact time, but I believe it was in the 8-minute ballpark.) However, it was good enough to deem him qualified for admission.

I would not worry too much about your run time knocking you out now. Yes, it could keep you from passing, but our experience with admissions is that if they see the other qualifications they are looking for, they will work to allow you every possible chance they can.

Incidently, the amount of running during Beast decreased my Plebe's 2-mile run time by something like a minute and a half. USMA has wonderful methods of getting you up to speed once you are there ;)

flyersboy114, just curious... How long after you submitted the CFA did the AFA ask you to retest? I went ahead and submitted with a pretty embarrassingly low push up score. Everything else was fine to good, but I wouldn't be surprised if they want me to retest.

I took it 10/15 heard back in three weeks. I submitted the same cfa to usma and usna so I am going to call them and ask to submit my new scores because I know they will be better.

ananogran:

It turns out that I was able to catch my PE instructor before he submitted the scores so i'm still ok. I'll just keep preparing and praticing. And it turns out that the CFA is all I have left to worry about, I received a letter of assurance and a nomination during the last few days. ALl i have left ot submit is the CFA and I have until Feb. 3 to get it in, so i have a good amount of time to prepare.

Steve - if all you need is a CFA perhaps you should call your regional commander and run your scores by him.
I am fairly sure that with an LOA they will let you take the CFA until you pass it.

It all looks good except for the run. Since there is a lot of running during beast AND the APFT required a 2 mile run - you should definitely keep working on it. Consider joining a gym and a few sessions with a personal trainer to set up a running program for you.
Good Luck and Congratulations on your LOA!

My brother is an active duty second lt., can he administer my test or is there a rule against family administering the test?

I received an appointment with the following scores:

BB Throw 68'
Pull Ups 11
Shuttle Run 8.8
crunches 80
Push Ups 75
Mile Run 6:15

Hope that helps give you an idea of what they're looking for.

To Steven: I am fairly certain there is a rule against family members administering it. My dad is in active duty but we managed to get one of his company commanders to administer it for me.

You did better than me on everything but the crunches and basketball throw. I had a very low physical score from admissions, but I didn't fail and it didn't hold me back from admission. You're good. Just make sure the rest of your application is up to snuff.

Usma is letting me submit my new scores, but I think only because usafa requested I retake it.
