2.Here are some averages from old PFTs.
Pull-ups--12
Long jump (not used for CFA)--7'07"
Sit-ups--71
Push-ups--48
600yd. run (not used for CFA) 1:53
(I heard the avg. for the mile was somewhere just under 7:00)
I do not know the averages for the shuttle run and basketball throw.
Try to score above average if possible.
These are the average for males, found in the Class of 2010 Instructions to Candidates book.

That depends on how you perform under pressure. For me, I was able to do a little bit more, but my form degraded. So, it did not help me any. In other words, do not count on it.

Sounds like it, but at USAFA they did not count the one they did there (last year). It does give them (and you) a good idea of how you will do or what you should work on.

I answered this for you in the USMA forum.

You can take the CFA as many times as you like. You just need a military officer or school official (i.e. coach) to supervise and attest to the scores. Practice the CFA as a whole unit at least a couple of times rather than just practicing the individual parts. Part of the test is the endurance of performing each section in a timed manner with little rest between sections. You will not give your top performance on the parts of the test at the latter end of the CFA (i.e. run). I also believe its very important that whoever is administering the test is very familiar with it. They need to understand perfectly what you can and can't do.

You can only send in one set of scores. My ALO said work out to where you feel good about you performances and then take the test. If its a bad day/you feel bad/just didn't do well, call it a practice test and don't record the scores. Take it another time and send it in.

You can only send in one set of scores. That is unless they say the ones you sent weren't good enough but you are a strong candidate so they want you to take it again to see if you do better.

What is a good score on the CFA? My son got a 419 at Summer Seminar, but hasn't taken it for his ALO, yet. I have nothing to compare his score to. What would constitute a 'good' score?

Be prepared to have your scores drop when you are out there.

I believe a top score is 600 and average is 300. So he's doing well.
