Cgs?

Well I was admitted into CGS, although I had applied to CAS. I did a little research on CGS and have gotten mixed reviews. Some say its where the dumb kids go, and there is social stigma for students who go to CGS. Others say it is a really tough program and harder than CAS, etc. Anyway, is anyone else in the same boat as me? I really have no idea what to think of CGS. Opinions…?

There have been 10,000 threads about CGS and some CAS students don’t like it, some don’t have an opinion, etc. What matters is what you think of it and your various options. You should spend some time on the CGS website to understand what it is: that it’s a specific 2 year program that then moves you, assuming you do okay, into another BU college and you then graduate from that college. If that appeals to you, if the cost of BU versus your other choices makes sense, if Boston is where you want to go to school, etc. then that is what matters. I’ve said this before but BU is a big school. CGS is a large program. It’s not high school where people care about who’s popular. You don’t wear a CGS armband.

My feeling is that CGS - like its equivalent at NYU and a handful of other schools - are good ideas that also bring in money for the schools. Some students think getting rid of CGS would improve BU’s image but NYU has the same thing.
