Did anybody have Dr. Laude for chem 301? If so or if not, does anyone know the name of the textbook used? It's not listed in the textbooks for the class.

Thanks!

I don’t know if he’s still doing it, but in past years Laude has used an electronic version of Chemical Principles: The Quest for Insight, by Atkins and Jones. Atkins and Jones was a calculus-based textbook that all the general chem classes used for a few years before going to Zumdahl. When the rest of 301 changed, Laude kept using the Atkins and Jones e-book. I haven’t seen the e-book, but I’ve heard that the instructor can mark it up, and his classes use his marked up version. He also has a (very thick) supplementary packet that you can buy from the copy center in the main hallway of Welch. I heard all this from students who had Laude a few years ago, so it may not still be true. Here’s a link to some of his old course web pages: [Professor Laude’s 2009-10 Courses](Professor Laude's 2009-10 Courses)

Whatever you do, DO NOT fall behind in Laude’s chem 301. He goes fast and if you don’t keep pace outside of class you’ll quickly be left in the dust.
