Ch-Ch-Ch-Chaaaannnccceee Meeeeeeee! Please!

I just finished my Junior year and will be graduating at the end of 2009. I am using this post to try to see where I could get in so I have a basis to start my college search/narrowing down with.

-Took SATs, waiting on results
-202 PSAT (National Merit, will find out more in Sept.)

School:
-I have taken the most rigorous schedule possible (many PSEOs & AP classes), have pushed for improvements in T&G education
-I'll have 45-50 college credits by HS graduation, not including AP (all taken at CC though)

ECs:

Colleges:
UPenn
University of Chicago
Georgetown University
UNC, Chapel Hill
George Washington University

Please chance me for these!! :)

THANKS!

You have a strong GPA. make sure those test scores are high. If you do get a 31, I think you can still improve it by a point or two.

I'm not familiar with the admissions to those universities, but I would say you're on the right track.

UPenn- Reach
UChicago- Reach, but it all depends on the essays
Georgetown- Match
UNC- Match
GWU- Match

UIowa and Iowa State can be your safeties if you want.
Also consider UMichigan (another match) and perhaps Cornell (Reach) depending on what your intended major is)

Kevin, I got a 29 in December (no studying, bombed math), so I don't think I'll jump to a 33, but 32 may be possible if I make it all the way through Math, reading, science this time.

How do you do cross country AND soccer? Aren't they both fall sports?

Lol, XC is fall, soccer is spring (in Iowa at least)

i would not give an answer untill i see your SAT

Argghhh, I'll have it by Thursday... :( I hate waiting!!

me too NealJ2K, me too :(
hopefully your sat is a good score

All great schools....BUT all have a rigorous admissions process and a bit quirky especially for out of state people. IF you score 31, great. DONT count on it.

Also I would add Notre Dame. If you are a conservative that is the place to be.

Notre Dame doesn't exactly have an easy admissions process either, but I would say that the OP could get in.

alGore, I just got a 2030 (equivalent to ACT 31) on the SAT, and this was my first time on SATs (this will be my 4th ACT). I know the ACT much better ;)

UPenn-reach
University of Chicago-reach
Georgetown University-match
UNC, Chapel Hill-match
George Washington University-small reach/match

^^^^ How are Gtown and UNC matches when GW could be a small reach...??

Being from Iowa will help a lot at most of these schools, I think it would be the least helpful at Notre Dame (which a few people have suggested, plus it doesnt really match the relatively urban feel of ur other schools). Overall I would probably say

Upenn - reach
Chicago - low reach
Georgetown- low reach
UNC- low reach
GW- definite match

^^ Agreed. GW isn't more competitive than Gtown or UNC.
