THis might be a little vague but if anyone could rate my chances i would really apreciate it.

GPA is decent. What rank are you? SAT puts you below the 25th percentile, so you might want to retake it and try to hit near a 2000+. Considering your URM status and your quite excellent ECs though, I say you have a good shot at getting in.

Your obviously pretty intelligent and hard working, so if you haven’t yet, put some more time into studying for the SAT and retake if you can. Hopefully we’ll you here next year!

thanks for the help!

I agree. You either need a standout, GPA, SAT, or extra-curricular you could do at Emory. If you apply early it’s a lot easier to get in. However, even regular decision it’s nowhere near as competitive as getting into an Ivy league school but if possible retake the SAT.

momilli101, in my judgment, you have a good chance at being accepted. Your 3.7 GPA is just a smidgen below the Emory middle 50% of admitted students. Your 1900 SAT score is also a bit below the middle 50%, but your ACT 30 score is within the middle 50%.

While everyone worries about meeting the academic profile of an elite college like Emory, keep in mind that logically, 25% of admitted students fell at least a bit below the middle 50% in the academic profile (and the other 25% had a perfect 4.0 or at least a 3.9 and fabulous SAT or ACT scores). Furthermore, there are other factors considered. Thus, if you have a GPA that falls below the middle 50%, you can still gain admittance. You can make up ground by having outstanding essays, recommendations, extracurriculars, demonstrated interest and other factors.

Your ECs are okay Your best one is probably varsity lacrosse, as it shows long term commitment and leadership and suggests that you are well-rounded. The X factor is that you have URM status, which is a nice hook and will help.

The Emory website lists the admissions counselors and designates Timothy Fields as being in charge of Multicultural Recruitment. Since he is a multicultural recruiter, you may want think of a question to ask him and send him an email making him aware of your interest in Emory.

With strong essays and recommendations along with your other qualifications, my guess is that you will be accepted.
