CH210C: Organic Chem Lab Textbook

So, the class I mentioned requires me to buy this book:
EXPERIMENTAL ORGANIC CHEMISTRY Ed: 5TH Yr: 2011,
GILBERT
ISBN:9781439049143

For any of you who have taken the class, should I buy the book? Is it used at all? Thank you!

^ I’d like to know this too. Seems ridiculous to shell out $150 for a lab class. Might get an International edition b/c it’s expensive.

Yes, it’s important to buy this book. All the lab procedures and lab questions come from this book, so you’ll be using it while you do your lab experiments.

Last semester I took CH 118K (Ochem Lab for engineers) and I too didn’t want to pay so much for the book. So I bought the 4th edition from Amazon for $10, then bought the 5th edition from the COOP, and went through every lab procedure and every lab question that we would be doing in lab (the questions and procedures throughout the semester are already stated in the syllabus) to make sure all the questions, page numbers, and measurements are the same (not all of them will be, but most will). The next day I returned the 5th edition back to the COOP for a full refund. It takes a while, but I think the effort is worth the money saved.
