mmm... yeah... im pretty random but give me your honest opinion. :p

Well, your gpa seems to be on the decent side (not extremely stellar but still pretty good), good SAT, and stellar EC's (from what I see).

I'm a noob at this, but I'd say you have a decent chance at Pomona, don't know about USC since you're out-of-state, and Harvard/Stanford it's difficult to say you have a significant chance.

For the others - I'm clueless.

Just for the record - my input is probably 99.56% useless.

Sorry.

thanks. any feedback is good.

Pomona- High match
Claremont McKenna
University of Chicago- High Reach
Harvard- Uber reach
Wesleyan- Match
Stanford- High Reach
Haverford- Not really sure, sorry
Northwestern- Match
Rice- High match/low reach
USC- High match, but you should be in
University of Washington- Match, you should be in
Whitman- Not really sure, sorry

What's tour rank? Have you tried the ACT?

im in the top 10 percent (barely though...) and my act score was 31. science kind of screwed me over. i might take it again next fall, i might not.

GPA + scores are kind of low.

with good essays, uchicago is definitely a good possibility. you have decent chances at pomona, but the applicant pool will be pretty tough this year.

if your not sure about applying to harvard and stanford, it would probably be better not to and instead apply to two different schools that you are definitely excited about. also, you should check out brown, its a great school and your ecs seem to figure into their profile.

yeah, im considering brown since i think it would fit my personanlity. i have a friend going there and she said that its hella liberal. and plus providence would be really earthy with a lot physical things to do like kayaking! idk. i think at heart im a california boy so pomonas still my number one.

just the one SAT II score that you have so far kinda worries me...while a 680 is a good, above average score, you should be aware that there will be those with 780s and higher applying to many of those schools u listed. SAT scores are great though, and if ur school is competitive, then your gpa is great too!

Pomona is really awesome but you shouldn't think of it as a safety school or anything because its not like harvard. your sat scores are awesome but they are actually slightly below the median for the 2007 acceptance rates! (median 2240) Its in the top ten liberal arts.

USC should be good too if your parents are fairly well off. I've noticed a trend where many upper-middle class kids (at least from my school) get in easily with a wide range of grades and scores.

Harvard is obviously a reach, and so is Stanford. Saving the time and stress should be worth it. Instead, focus on nailing AP and SAT IIs! You say 8 AP classes by graduation, and I'm assuming the bulk of them are senior year (some from junior year I'm assuming too, in which case plz post them asap!).

Awesome extracurriculars but would really want to know more about your academic profile, like which subjects you took ap/honors and what you got for each specific class, more SAT II and AP scores (i understand u prob haven't received them yet), competitiveness of school, etc.

just to remind you, application fees will be over $1200 (:

Well.. you're asian and your lowest score was in math. That itself will probably get you in to most places (except for maybe harvard/stanford/pomona).

No really though, you have good everything -- it's all just luck now. On any given day you could get into the colleges you named, it's just about how the ad-com sees your app on that particular day.

Yeah, forgot to add what cmelan helpfully posted out...you should really narrow down that list...while 12 is not impossible to do and I'm assuming since ur on CC ur more than willing to spend the time and money for the reach, taking harvard+stanford out of it will at least drop ur list down to 10...consider taking u chicago off that list too...

The others have already said what I would've, but I don't think you should apply to Stanford and Harvard "just because" -- your interest in the school can turn out to be important, and if you're not motivated to apply there because you genuinely like/love the school, the adcom will probably sense that.

thanks! all the advice is really helpful. i think i will take harvard off my list because thats more of what my parents want and not me... yeah, and im considering applying to brown instead of u of chicago.

my courses are all full honors with aps (bio, apush, whap) and next year im going to take calc ab, physics b, lit, gov, japanese, and im also going to independently study psychology.
