Awards: Entire department awards, "Wellesley Book Award," NCTE Nominee, AP Scholar with Honor. I've also won numerous creative writing contests.</p>
<p>I've taken rigorous honors/AP courses in English and history and gotten 4s on all the tests I've taken. I also worked for a year as a children's math tutor and am currently working at the public library.</p>
<p>I'm a strong writer, just bad at math and standardized tests...blech.I'm going for a creative writing and women's/gender studies double major with a minor in a language. <p>Your SAT is not really in Kenyon's range, and while a GPA of 3.5 isn't too bad for Kenyon, it will be looked at in a slightly negative light because of your test scores.</p>
<p>That said, Kenyon will note your struggles in math (as seen in your SAT score and the presumed cause of your slightly low GPA). Your ECs and awards look excellent, and if your essays and interviews are as fantastic as you say they are, then you should be in good shape. College admissions is ultimately a crapshoot, and I'm not sure how Kenyon makes admissions decisions. </p>
<p>Did you take the SAT more than once? Your math score is pretty bad, but I do think you make up for it to some degree with your other accomplishments. Your medium-low gpa and math score put you on a bubble of sorts... If you have decent grades in math classes you should be ok.</p>
<p>On an additional note, why were you tutoring children in math as opposed to writing etc? I'm happy you were helping youth, but find it curious you chose your worst subject to tutor in.</p>
<p>I agree, I'm a Kenyon student currently in the process of Applying to Transfer to Cornell for next fall. Your Math Score is very low. I'd suggest maybe taking the SATs again, or maybe an SATII in math to prove that you can do well in the subject. SATs aren't the most important factor in admission to Kenyon, but I think 470 in math isn't the best. Good luck, my advice would be to make yourself known to the admissions office. <p>Well, I'm APPLYING to transfer. We'll see if it actually happens. Even if I get in, I'm not sure I'm attending. I'm applying to their College of Agriculture and Life Sciences mainly because of the programs they offer. I'm deeply interested in Environmental Policy and perhaps even law and the have perhaps the strongest Environmental, Biologic, and Sustainability Studies departs in the nation. It's not a fault of Kenyon's, and there's nothing I "can't stand" about the school, it just cant provide what I really want. Also, I applied ED1 which I think was a big mistake. I would discourage everyone from applying early binding anywhere. We'll see how it goes, I hope I get in, but I'm also apprehensive to leave the comfort of "life on the hill". Kenyon is a great school, I just don't necessarily think it's the one for me. </p>

<p>I took the SAT twice and got a lower score in math :( however, my grades in math are B's, I've taken it all four years in high school. I know that's my weakest point, but I definitely talked about it in my interview.</p>
<p>I think if you talked about it in your interview and really make it known that it's your biggest fault then you still have a shot. Kenyon is more than just about standardized scores. I really wish you the best of luck!</p>

<p>well...i think 90% of the class of 2011 was in the top 10% so...so again, you are below their average,...BUT they don't only care about scores and GPA, so you may still have a chance.</p>
