My cousins (former Terps) were telling me all about their first days as freshmen.

They told me that the first day, there will be some 'ragging', and that our sophomores and juniors will take advantage of us as a freshman and tease us... Is that true?

Is it true that they will force us to come to the late night party/chill session, tell us the wrong way to the library, etc.?

Is the ragging scene so bad? :S

no us upperclassmen are nice people. we promise

@somebodynew: Was that sarcasm? :p

No, that was sincere. People at Maryland are definitely willing to help you out. If you get lost on the first day, look for these big LOCATOR SERVICES booths stationed around campus where people will tell you where to go.

Your cousins are just trying to scare you. Honestly, most people won’t even know you’re a freshman. If you want to fit in, do NOT wear your student ID around your neck on the lanyard they give you! Seriously. Even going to the dining hall. It’s worth the 5 seconds to put it in your pocket. That’s the #1 way to get picked out as a freshman :)

Moved in today and feeling great :)

They gave us bunk-beds, but I’m good with it… We have air-conditioning ;)

^^You can unbunk them if you want.

Yeah I figured that out :D
