You’re obviously more than fulfilled any UCLA requirements.

It really comes down to your essays and luck. When the majority of the other applicants have similar qualifications, the only way to differentiate and identify the best applicant, the essays will play a key role.

So make sure you write the best essays you can.

Yeah, I was hoping that my essays and teacher recs would help me out, but the UC’s don’t weight them as significantly as most privates do.
Anyone else have any comments?

Essays can be extremely important from what I gather from many at orientation this week, if you’ve had really tought family or financial or other personal struggles. They can sometimes make up for average grades (I met several people who got in with ~3.1 and low SAT reasoning yesterday) and lack of academic success in general. The application process truly is holistic at UCLA, making it so incredibly unpredictable as an applicant. It’s best to get your GPA and SATs as high as possible, though, and the OP’s SAT and Math II could use a little work. Nice extra-curriculars, though!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and DON’T FORGET that UCs don’t take letters of rec!!

essays can be very important, especially if they can explain some personal circumstances. my friend got in ucla with about a 1200 SAT (on the new one, mind you), 3.8GPA, because of a great and emotional personal statement.

definite match. but as everyone has been saying, anything can happen. college admissions are very unpredictable.

your SAT scores look fine – even your SAT II’s. let me tell you, mine were about the same and i got in for fall 2008. but then again, it’s up to you if you want to re-take. everything looks good so concentrate on your essays.
