I'm not a robot... but I really want to go to Dartmouth. I've been looking at it since my sophomore year and still love it. I want to apply to the Mathematical Social Science major/department/ ish... possibly Sociology as a 2nd major.. but definitely Education/Human Development as a minor.

Chance me? And please.. help me refine my ECs so they don't sound like a laundry list!! I'm not one of those people who did activities just to get into a college.

It would be hard to imagine them turning you down. Dartmouth seems to have a tremendous commitment to Native Americans and you would be competitive without that added plus.

sweet! you’re from maine? hence the “wicked,” haha. I was doing an internship in bar harbor this past summer.

your stats are awesome and i envy you.

i know of someone who got denied who was literally perfect…gpa..sat…state champ/captain of track…denied

just remember…college admissions is a game…they cant take everyone who is perfect
tier 2 schools like colgate, middlebury, etc DENY hundreds of valedictorians every year…just hope that something about you sets you appart…its all you can do with the remarkable level of achievement you have reached

thanks for all the input, guys. do you think i should take some description out of the ECs or just leave it?

jBou: oh, I know. i have no amazing mission trips or intel awards to talk about, but I can always talk about Boy Scout camp  my app will stand out because i have a really peculiar app FA-wise (parents are divorced, but live together). i just hope it’s not in a bad way.

anyone else?

and yes, I say wicked.. although I do not have the “downeastah” accent that you may have encountered. bar harbor is nice, but is basically tourist town. hope you had fun working there, though! :)

I could not imagine them denying you; and if they do, some other college will quickly take their loss :)

You look like an awesome applicant. BTW, I am going to be part of the Native Fly-in Program as well.

lucky… I got turned down twice for the Fly in Program. lol.

Probably has something to do with the fact that my essay was utter crap and I didn’t rewrite it for the fall one. Haha. Congrats on getting into that, I’ve heard that that’s like a very good indicator that you’ll get in. Why would a school fly you up for 4 days if they didn’t really want you. haha

Coteee, you look like a super applicant to me. Being a Native American is a big plus anywhere, but I’m assuming that it is particularly good at D.

BTW, happy that Becky O’Brien finally graduated?!? :)

You’re totally in. Dartmouth is incredibly receptive to Native Americans, and the school takes a lot of pride in its charter. You’re in.

well, I’ve never competed against Becky. Her school is Class ‘B’ and mine is Class ‘A’. I’ve talked to her a few times, though; she’s a sweetheart

thanks for all the input, guys. i really hope that you’re right!!
i don’t even know how many people apply for the fly-in program or how many get to participate.. i wouldn’t have even found out if i hadn’t called the admissions office because my email address has underscores and they had them as hyphens. lol

one more question: does anyone know if it’s bad to send in a paper app? the common app says to send it either all through USPS or all online. i mailed my ED agreement and fee waiver, so I don’t want to mess things up and apply online…

I don’t know for sure, but I would guess that like most places they would rather have it online. Sybbie is probably the authority on that one.

BTW, I know that one of the female recruited athletes at D last year was a thrower.

Yeah. I just don’t want to mess it up since it is the Common App and they want everything one way or another.

I think you are talking about Anna Niedbala. We had three or four female throwers in Maine that qualified for nationals that have now graduated. I’m not good enough at my events to be recruited, especially at a DI, but I really want to be a walk-on. If I end up going to a DIII school, I’m fine.

Machine…

Having been here for just 3 weeks, like everyone’s said I have noticed that Dartmouth absolutely adores it’s native american students. Seriously, they want as many NA as they can get (partly because of its history/establishment as a school for native americans/ties locally), and your stats would be competitive even without the NA hook. See you at dimensions
