Chance a basic Indian CS + Business kid!

My oldest son was in the same boat - had lots of great options but Georgia Tech is very hard to turn down in state. We would have paid for MIT had he gotten in and decided to go there, but even so he loved that GT was a college with Division 1 sports, tailgating, etc. so even MIT may not have swayed him. I will say in retrospect he ended up in the perfect place for him!

It is a good idea to have a safety you will be happy attending so be sure you have one! KSU and GSU are big transfer magnets for GT - we know many who have enrolled with the express purpose of transferring in after a year. UNG serves the same purpose for UGA (although UGA requires you complete all 30 hours rather than have them in progress like Tech and I am not sure if UGA will consider AP credit in those so UNG may require a different approach to join UGA the following fall (like starting in the summer). I think KSU and GSU will allow applications quite late in the year so you could wait on those until you see how other things play out if you want to.

Many “upper middle class” parents would not want to pay for more expensive schools when you have potential excellent instate options. Find out what your parents’ budget really is for college. They may very well be willing to pay for any school you want but you need to know whether or not that’s the case. Do you have younger siblings that will be going to college?
