Chance a below-average student

I know Cornell is a huge reach for me... But I just want to know exactly how likely it will be for me to get accepted.. Thanks.

SAT: 1840 (CR 560, M 630 W 650) but I also retook the Dec SAT. Scores should be higher than 1900.
GPA: 3.75
Rank: top 8%
AP course load: 2 last year, 3 this year
Location: WA
EC: Varsity tennis, typical volunteer work, very few leadership positions but involved in many after-school clubs, church youth group
Intended major: Biology, neuroscience
Essays: written with honesty and I think they are pretty well written..

Be harsh, I don't mind.

i mean i dont think you have a good shot, but you never know, maybe they will see something they like about you. i would still apply, hey you never know
do you have a hook (athlete, legacy, urm)?

Not very strong statistics for a Cornell applicant, but there’s always a chance.

Thanks for your opinions guys! They are really helpful  Keep them coming.

j0em4d-I do not have any hooks.

dude your not below average you have decent SAT and grades, there are millions of other colleges that would accept you but go ahead and try for cornell.

It really depends on your College and Major. Some are more selective than others. For example AEM in CALS is notoriously selective and has an admissions rate of about 10%.

Your scores are not there.

But remember the decision is based upon the applicant as a whole.

Look at the ED results some people get in with 19XX. You have a chance, it might be small though, but its worth a try.

Thanks again. Do you know where I can get a list of acceptance rates by colleges? (and possibly by majors too?)

[College Information - Find College Information in these A to Z College Profiles](College Information: A-Z Profiles with Admissions Data). I think you should apply to Cornell, though you have less than a 25% chance at it. Try Wake Forest, since they dont require test scores at all.

I think you have a shot if your CR hits the middle 50% (which is like 630-730 or so). Hopefully your essays are really solid and your math SAT also went up a bit. Good luck man! How were your SAT IIs?
